Make More Money from Online Writing
There are three main ways to go about doing this. The first is to take on freelance jobs where you get paid per word or per article that you produce. You can find this work from freelancer websites or by joining a membership site. Take a look at the resource box for articles with more info on this method. The second is to set up your own website, probably a blog if you are primarily a writer rather than a web designer or developer. And the third is to set up a free account on sites like HubPages or Squidoo where you can publish pages on any topic you like, share the advertising revenue that they generate, and add your own affiliate links to make even more money. This article is primarily about the later two of these methods.
Research
Perhaps the most important thing that will determine how much you actually earn from your online writing is how good your research is. You need to be able to find topics that people want to read about, that relate to what people are searching for on Google, Bing and the other search engines, and that also have low enough competition (ie there isn’t already lots of highly relevant content from authority websites on your topic) so that you have a chance of your work getting noticed. In addition to this you also need to be able to find topics which will generate revenue, which means things that advertisers are willing to pay well for clicks from through Google AdWords / AdSense or which relate well to good quality products which you can include an affiliate link for.
On Page Search Engine Optimization
During your research you should be identifying keywords for your articles. These describe your content and relate to the search terms that you hope will trigger a visit to your page and the topics that advertisers are bidding for clicks on. These keywords should appear in the title of your article, preferably at the beginning of the title, as well as in the main body of text itself and any tags which you use for internal linking.
Link Building
Hopefully if you write well then people will choose to link to your work from their pages / sites naturally. But many writer help things along by doing a bit of links building themselves. Just be careful not to start link spamming.
Diversification
Most people who are successful at making more money from online writing publish work on a variety of different sites. Different sites are better for different types of content, and you can also link between your articles on each one to help promote them.
